Your First Pole Class: What to Expect

So you’ve signed up for your first pole class—yay! 🎉 Whether you’re feeling excited, nervous, or a little bit of both, you’re in for such a fun experience. Here’s a quick guide to help you feel ready before you walk through the door.

What to Expect

Your first class is all about learning the basics—grips, spins, and just getting comfortable around the pole. You’ll warm up, move through some beginner-friendly skills, and probably laugh a lot along the way. Nobody expects you to be perfect, and most people in class are beginners too, so you won’t be alone.

What to Wear

Think comfy, athletic clothing that lets your skin grip the pole. Short-shorts or even bathing suit bottoms are best (even if that feels out of your comfort zone at first), and a tank top or sports bra works great. Bare feet are totally fine—no fancy shoes needed!... Or you can bring your highest heels; That's always an experience!

What NOT to Do

Here’s the biggie: skip the lotion or oils on class day. It makes the pole super slippery (for you and everyone else). Jewelry like rings or bracelets are also a no-go since they can scratch the poles and get in the way.

Most Important: Make It Your Own

The hardest part is walking in the door, and after that—you’ll be too busy having fun to overthink it. Everyone starts as a beginner, and your instructors are there to cheer you on every step of the way.

Pole is whatever you want it to be. Some people love leaning into the sensual, sultry side, while others keep it playful, sporty, or even a little silly. There’s no right or wrong way—no expectation, no standard. It’s about expressing yourself, building confidence, and finding your own vibe on the pole.
